The drawing adorning the wall is the work of the deaf-mute painter Lorenzo Toma (1798 – 1867) and date back to the time (1818-1823) in which he studied at the Caesarea Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Milan, now the Brera Academy. Exponent of Milanese Neoclassicism, he was a friend of the poet Vincenzo Monti (1754 – 1828) who dedicated a sonnet to him.
Stepmother is true was nature to you, oh dear Gentle spirit, denying To you to hear and speak; but when Stared I contemplate the rare Your mighty intellect, And the high heart that burns in your chest, I say: Right is nature; and who sees well, More than what she took from you she gave you.
