Position:

First floor with a unique view of the Piazza Ducale through two large windows.

Size 60 sq. m.

Description:

Apartment of great elegance, comfort and design. A keen union of modern and functional furnishings and antiques belonged to our family to make your stay a unique experience of pleasure. The enfolding tones of the gray-blue walls recall the colors of the frescoes of Piazza Ducale, in perfect continuity with the view that can be enjoyed from the two large windows, giving the mind and eyes serenity and beauty.

High quality finishes, elegant oak parquet, wooden ceiling with large exposed beams.

To embellish the furnishings, in the living room you can admire a walnut Lombard Louis Philippe style sideboard (around 1850), a Savonarola armchair and an ebonized wooden riser from the early 1900s. In the anteroom, together with a comfortable design wardrobe, there is a walnut and briar writing desk from the late 1800s with a bronze Liberty table lamp, in the bedroom a small work cabinet in mahogany with inlays from the Art Decò period.

Relax and let yourself be enfolded by the ancient atmosphere of the apartment, feel the positive energy that the house transmits to you and enjoy the breathtaking view of the wonderful architectural symmetries of one of the most important Renaissance squares in Italy. Sitting on the armchair in the living room you will have the impression of being on a stage and becoming one with the Piazza Ducale. The different lights of the hours of the day and the seasons change the colors that the whole gives to the view. From the pebbles of the Ticino river that cover the pavement together with the “Lombard serizzo” stones, to the street lamps of the early twentieth century, to the arches of the porticoes and to the Baroque façade of the Cathedral that frames the scenography, it is a succession of reflections and chromatic shades that are always new and different.

Why be satisfied? Treat yourself to a stay in the center of a 530-year-old history.

The drawings that decorate the living room wall are by Luigi Natale (1856 – 1936), an ancient relative of our family, who, before becoming a lawyer, was a pupil of the painter from Vigevano Giovan Battista Garberini (1819 – 1896) and attended the Royal Albertina Academy of Fine Arts in Turin in 1876.

The drawing adorning the wall is the work of the deaf-mute painter Lorenzo Toma (1798 – 1867) and date back to the time (1818-1823) in which he studied at the Caesarea Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Milan, now the Brera Academy. Exponent of Milanese Neoclassicism, he was a friend of the poet Vincenzo Monti (1754 – 1828) who dedicated a sonnet to him.

Matrigna è ver ti fu natura, o caro
Spirto gentil, negando
A te l’udire ed il parlar; ma quando
Fiso io contemplo il raro
Tuo potente intelletto,
E l’alto core che ti ferve in petto,
Dico: Giusta è natura; e chi ben vede,
Più di quel che ti tolse ella ti diede.
